A clever little red purse made from recycled materials fits over your shoulder AND it is eco friendly, durable, water resistant, light weight, and the list goes on!  Engage Green makes this pruse using recycled plastic (PETE).  The plastic materials come from recycled used soda and water bottles from your curbside recycling programs!

Contrast stitching on the webbing handle and zip top.  The inside includes a larger side pocket and several organizing pockets for your mobile phone and accessories.  The textured fabric and design look too snazzy to be recycled plastic!  This red/”green” purse will make you proud.

How is the fabric made?  Plastics are collected from curbside recycling and drop-off locations. From there, they go to a material recovery facility, where they are sorted and sent to a reclamation facility. There, the plastic is inspected and washed. Next, it is chopped into small flakes. The flakes are placed into a flotation tank and then dried in a tumbler. The dried flakes are placed in an extruder where they are melted. The melted plastic is sifted through a screen to remove any contaminants and then it is formed into strands. Finally, the strands are chopped into pellets and sold to manufacturers to make new products, such as the fabric that is used to create Engage Green designs.  It takes approximately 18 used plastic bottles of 16 oz. to make 1 yard of this fabric.
