Some 70 years ago several fisher families moved from Madura to Java’s Eastern coast because of the perfusion of sea life.  During stormy weather, after the nets were mended, they began making handicrafts from the very pretty discarded shells.  Capiz shells, or Jingle Oysters grow like weeds in the shallow sea beds.  The beautiful watery colors, coconut shells, and sweet tinkling sound of the wind chimes are a wonderful addition to any interior or garden.
