Some 70 years ago several fisher families moved from Madura to Java’s Eastern coast because of the perfusion of sea life.  During stormy weather, after the nets were mended, they began making handicrafts including these large green wind chimes from the discarded shells.  Capiz shells, or Jingle Oysters grow like weeds in the shallow sea beds.  The beautiful handmade watery colors and sweet tinkling sound are a wonderful addition to any interior or garden.
